India continued their dominance at the ICC World Twenty20 with a convincing 7-wicket win over West Indies in Dhaka on Sunday.

Chasing 130 to win, the Indians cruised to victory with both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scoring confident fifties.

Earlier, Indian spinners yet again put on a dominating show as they restricted defending champions West Indies to a modest 129 for seven in their second group league encounter.

Amit Mishra again performed admirably as he was the pick of the Indian bowlers with fantastic figures of two for 18 while Ravichandran Ashwin (1/24) also kept the batsmen under tight leash with his leg-stump line.

Ravindra Jadeja (3/48) took some stick from Lendl Simmons (27) but should also be lauded for getting important breakthroughs.

The bowlers kept the normally free-stroking West Indies batsmen in check, allowing them just 74 runs by the 15th over for the loss of four wickets.

The hard-hitting Chris Gayle, dropped before he had scored and then again on 19, made a 33-ball 34 with two sixes and a four before he was run out in the 13th over.

Mishra then had Marlon Samuels stumped by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and claimed Dwayne Bravo leg-before off successive balls in the 15th over to open up the lower order.

Lendl Simmons, who was caught off a Jadeja no-ball in the 18th over, celebrated the let-off by smashing the next ball for a six.

Simmons made 27 off 22 balls as Jadeja conceded three sixes in the final over.

Confusion over West Indies score delays India's chase

There was an unusual delay in the start of India's chase against the West Indies due to confusion over score managed by the defending champions.

The official scoresheet mentioned that West Indies have scored 130 for seven but eventually it was found that the score was 129 for seven.

Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma walked to the middle in time but were surprised to see game not starting. They were seen talking to the umpires till the issue was sorted. Finally the game began after 10-minute delay.

Brief scores:

West Indies 129-7 in 20 overs (C. Gayle 34, A. Mishra 2-18, R. Jadeja 3-48)

India 130-3 in 19.4 overs (V. Kohli 54, R. Sharma 62 not out)
