Stanikzai failed to hold on to a catch as he reacted a bit late to one which came off Inzamam’s training willow. The captain was seeing wringing his right hand in pain even as Inzamam rushed to enquire about the seriousness of his injury. Stanikzai walked towards a chair behind the net area and refused to talk to Inzamam as well as bowling coach Manoj Prabhakar, who wanted to know why he left the catching cordon.

Inzamam’s anger at his skipper leaving a fielding session was palpable. The catching session ended there before the team continued their practice in the batting nets.
On Thursday, Afghanistan gave a good account of themselves, their loss to Sri Lanka notwithstanding. Just before Saturday’s net session, Stanikzai attributed his team’s rise to Inzamam and Prabhakar. “We have improved because they (Inzamam and Prabhakar) have shared their experiences. After all, they have more international experience and have played in pressure situations. Our guys are improving day by day,” said Stanikzai.
