Karnataka skipper R Vinay Kumar displayed in full measure how charged up and energised he is when it comes to locking horns with Mumbai. "It's always good to perform against a fine team. Mumbai are a great side and they have been doing well for many years. Whenever we play them, I take it as a challenge and try and bowl well. Sometimes, I get wickets; at times I may not, but I always take that approach. I am happy when I am doing well against them," he said.

Kumar's six-wicket haul was responsible for Mumbai's collapse in the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy semi-final at Bangalore. The domestic giants were bowled out for just 44 as Kumar returned figures of 8-1-20-6. Karnataka beat Mumbai by 112 runs to enter the Ranji final then. Asked which performance he would rate higher, the right-arm pacer chose the semis in Bangalore.
"We were bowled out for 202, but bounced back to bowl them out for 44. It was a semi-final, a must-win game and we didn't put up a big score. Even though I got my second hat-trick today, that was my best spell," said Kumar, who has figured in one Test and 31 ODIs for India.
