Mount Maunganui: Opener Martin Guptill continued his rich vein of form as he smashed a century to help New Zealand clinch the five-match ODI series 3-1 against Sri Lanka after beating the Angelo Mathews-led side by 36 runs in the final match at the Bay Oval on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand posted 294-5 against Sri Lanka, thanks to Guptill for smashing nine boundaries and three sixes in his brilliant knock of 102.
Meanwhile, skipper Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor scored 61 each in his side's innings.
In reply, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 258 despite some resistance by skipper Mathews (95).
Dinesh Chandimal (50) and Milinda Siriwardana (39) were other notable contributions to the visitors.
For the hosts, Matt Henry and Trent Boult bagged five and three wickets respectively while Adam Milne and Mitchell Santner also chipped in with a wicket each.
The two sides will now play two-match Twenty20 series, starting from Thursday.
