All-rounder Shubham Ranjane, who figured in a solitary Ranji match this season, yesterday scored 65, scalped two wickets and sent back another batsman with an accurate throw to guide ARCS Andheri to a win in the opening match of the inaugural T20 Mumbai League at Wankhede Stadium.
In the second match of the day, Triumph Knights were battling hard to beat SoBo SuperSonics for which opener Jay Bista scored 52. Batting first, SuperSonics scored 184-7. In reply, the Triumph Knights were 140 for six at the end of the 17th over.

Earlier, in the first game, the ARCS Andheri all-rounder, who helped his team beat North Mumbai Panthers by 23 runs, scored 65 off 55 balls before his 2-18 played a good hand in his side dismissing the Panthers for 141 in reply to Andheri's 164-7. Ranjane, the grandson of former India pacer Vasant, dismissed captain Ajinkya Rahane (28 off 22 balls) and in-form Prithvi Shaw (14 off 11) and sent back Hersh Tank with an accurate throw from point.

Rahane and Shaw stitched a 38-run partnership in 4.2 overs for the first wicket. However, while trying to hit Ranjane over the point fielder, Shaw offered an easy catch to Siddharth Chitnis. Yashsawai Jaiswal was the only notable batsman for the losing side with 37 in 23 balls. Pacers Tushar Deshpande and Sinha picked up three and two wickets respectively for the winning side. It was a special day for Ranjane whose parents were at the stadium which his father Subash graced while playing the Ranji Trophy for Maharashtra in the 1980s. "I didn't know my family was coming. When I raised my bat [after the half century], I saw my father in the corporate box. Usually, when my parents come to watch, I perform well. They are lucky for me," Ranjane said with a smile.
