Adelaide: Australia wicketkeeper Peter Nevill will miss the rest of the Big Bash League after suffering a burst blood vessel in his cheek from a flying bat.
Nevill was hurt in Melbourne Renegades’ win away to Adelaide Strikers, after the hosts’ Brad Hodge accidentally let go of his bat attempting a shot against Thisara Perera.
The 31-year-old was trying to pick up the flight of the ball when instead he was struck by the errant bat which slipped from Hodge's grip. The BBL later confirmed he will be unavailable for the rest of the Renegades’ campaign and be monitored by Cricket New South Wales medical stuff.
