Karachi: A lot of riches await the Pakistani players and officials when they return home in December with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif promising lucrative rewards following their historic Test series win over Australia.

The premier, in his message on the team's 2-0 whitewash of Australia, said that after a long time Pakistan cricket had achieved such a big victory.

"It is a great moment of joy for the nation and the players deserve to be reward for their performances. When they
return home I will invite them to the PM house for a reception to reward them," Sharif said in a statement.

The Prime Minister is also the Patron-in-Chief of PCB. The Pakistan Cricket Board was also not lagging behind in
promising rewards for the players.

Chairman Shaharyar Khan made special mention of the efforts of Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq and Azhar Khan and said the team would be rewarded.

Pakistani cricketers are already the highest paid sportsmen in the country and PCB is the only sports body which
is self reliant financially.

A senior board official told PTI that if Pakistan also won the full series against New Zealand, which begins in the UAE from November 9, then each player can expect to get richer.

"I would say after this Australia series win if they also beat New Zealand they will get very lucrative cash bonuses,"
he said.

The PCB already offers incentive bonus payments for top individual performances like a century and five wickets in an
innings and for Test series wins against top ranked sides like Australia.
