42-year-old leg spinner Pravin Tambe is all set to make his Mumbai Ranji Trophy debut against Odisha in today's Group 'A' clash at Wankhede Stadium, according to a team source.
Wasim Jaffer, who will lead Mumbai today, also hinted that Tambe could make the cut in the playing XI. “We might look to play him in this match. He is experienced and a leg-spinner also brings a lot of variety into your attack. He can also bat a bit, so that will be a cushion. This is a relatively young side. But still we will make a final decision (about the playing XI) in the morning,” said Jaffer.

Tambe, meanwhile, chose to be cautious. “I don’t know anything as I haven’t been informed so far. They (team management) said a final decision on the playing XI would be taken just before the match. If that (my debut) happens, it would be best moment of my life. I cannot explain it in words now,” Tambe said.
Tambe caught the nation’s attention with his performances for Rajasthan Royals in the last Champions League T20 where he emerged as the highest wicket-taker (12 wickets in five matches) of the tournament.
