One state, one vote rule is unfair: MCA

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) members felt that the Supreme Court’s order regarding ‘one state, one vote’ is unfair and needs reconsideration. MCA unanimously passed the resolution to request the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take up the issue regarding ‘one-state one vote’ before the RM Lodha Committee and to the Supreme Court, in it’s Special General Meeting (SGM) held at the Wankhede Stadium yesterday

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) members felt that the Supreme Court’s order regarding ‘one state, one vote’ is unfair and needs reconsideration. MCA unanimously passed the resolution to request the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take up the issue regarding ‘one-state one vote’ before the RM Lodha Committee and to the Supreme Court, in it’s Special General Meeting (SGM) held at the Wankhede Stadium yesterday.

The MCA members didn’t even discuss other important issues like the 70-year age cap and cooling off period for administrators. MCA vice-presidents -- former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar and Ashish Shelar -- were absent in yesterday’s meeting.

MCA’s former treasurer Ravi Mandrekar slammed the resolution. “Any resolution passed by MCA has no value and will be treated as a deliberate attempt of refusing implementation of order,” Mandrekar, who is the secretary of Gaud Saraswat Cricket Club told mid-day after the SGM. Interestingly, the MCA managing committee on July 24 approved all the Lodha panel recommendations given by Supreme Court. MCA president Sharad Pawar (75), who cannot continue as an administrator due to the 70-year cap, said he will be happy to retire in six months’ time after that meeting.
