The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Hon Treasurer Ravi Savant put to rest the speculation whether 'stepped aside' president of the Board N Srinivasan would attend the working committee meeting in Kolkata on Sunday

Savant said Srinivasan would be attending the all-important meeting. “I think he should be attending the meeting. He will chair the meeting if he attends,” Savant, who is the president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), told reporters on the sidelines of a felicitation function for the Association’s panel of umpires.

Srinivasan had stepped aside as BCCI chief after his son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings Team Principal, Gurunath Meiyappan was allegedly involved in the Indian Premier League betting scandal. Former president Jagmohan Dalmiya was given the responsibility to run the day-to-day affairs of the BCCI.

Srinivasan would be keen on attending the Kolkata meeting as it will be the last working committee before the Board’s Annual General Meeting in September.

The previous working committee meeting in New Delhi on August 2 was adjourned on technical grounds. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court’s verdict is expected today on BCCI’s appeal against the Bombay High Court ruling which declared the Board’s IPL probe panel “illegal and unconstitutional”.
