New Delhi: Sachin Tendulkar, known for his gentlemanly behaviour, has not taken Maria Sharapova's ignorance of him to heart.

In an interview to NDTV yesterday, India's batting legend didn't expect Sharapova to know him since cricket is not played or followed in Russia.

"Sharapova's comments were not disrespectful. She doesn't follow cricket," Tendulkar was quoted as saying.
A section of Tendulkar's fans created a hue and cry after media reports said the Russian tennis ace wasn't aware of Tendulkar.
Sharapova was asked whether she knew Tendulkar, who was also seated in the Wimbledon's Royal Box along with David Beckham in June.
While she spoke at length about the star English footballer and how she gets inspired from achievers in other sports, Sharapova flatly replied, "I don't" when asked about who Tendulkar is.
