The India vs Pakistan match may be over in Champions Trophy, but the bitter rivalry between the two foes has taken an ugly turn with a verbal battle ensuing on social media between former Pakistani captain Rashid Latif, former India opener Virender Sehwag and middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary.

Tiwary lashed out at Latif for abusing Sehwag for his tweet after India's win over Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy last Sunday. Responding to Latif's offensive video that the former Pakistani wicketkeeper had posted on Facebook, the 31-year-old Bengal right-hander said that while he generally didn't upload videos, he was forced to respond to Latif's comments..

While describing Latif as an 'idiot', he said, "I generally don't upload videos but Rashid Latif's comments forced me to. He has tried to put down a legend like Virender Sehwag and it is a shameful act. So I was wondering what forced him to upload such a video.

"After thinking long I figured out that all he wants is his 60 seconds of fame – something which he doesn't get nowadays. The language in the video suggests he doesn't have courtesy and the decency to respect other players. He should realise that by posting such a video he has made a big mistake," Tiwary said in the video, uploaded on Twitter.

"You should go and check your record and then see Sehwag's record. It will help you understand whom you are talking about. But the problem is you cannot even understand those records as it is in English.

"You cannot even match Virender Sehwag's numbers. So tell a friend to translate Sehwag's record from English so that you understand how far behind you lag in terms of numbers. It will help you become aware of reality and then think ten times before taking such digs at legendary performers of the game."

Sehwag had also responded to the former Pakistan chief selector's comments. But unlike his usual posts, this time he decided to play it down and not react to the instigation. he said, "A meaningful silence is always better than meaningless words."

This is what Sehwag had tweeted after the victory over Pakistan, "Pote ke baad Bete. Koi baat nahi Beta, Well tried ! Congratulations Bharat !#BaapBaapHotaHai #INDvPAK."

Responding to Viru's post celebrating India's win over Pakistan, Latif had taken to Facebook a day before the India-South Africa game and criticised the former India opener. He had said that Viru had "verbal diarrhea" and India would return home after losing to South Africa in their final Group match. He had added that while he respected several Indian players, he didn't respect Sehwag.
