The Maharashtra Cricket Association is in danger of not being allowed to attend the BCCI AGM on Sunday in Chennai.
The reason is due to the late submission of the letter to declare their representative. Initially, the MCA had nominated its president Ajay Shirke as representative for the AGM.
However, a change of mind meant that the MCA sent a new letter, nominating Abhay Apte as its representative. “The letter reached our office at 5.20 pm on Saturday, while the deadline for nomination was 4 pm,” a BCCI source said. “The letter has not been declined, but hasn’t been accepted either,” the source added.

The letter would now be put forward to the AGM, and the members will decide whether to allow MCA in the meeting.u00a0If MCA is not allowed to attend the meeting, it would be first time in nine years that they would face this ignominy. The last time a similar thing happened, Jagmohan Dalmiya defeated Sharad Pawar by a single vote for the president’s post.
And although this time round there would be no election, it could well be the beginning of the MCA falling out from the list of BCCI favourites, especially after the MCA president’s well known disagreements with president N Srinivasan, which resulted in the former resigning from the BCCI Treasurer’s post a few months back.u00a0
