MS Dhoni hints at Test retirement

Indian skipper MS Dhoni yesterday hinted at retirement from Test cricket if he is to play in the next World Cup in 2015. "If I have to see through the 2015 (World Cup), I would have to retire from one of the formats. That's something (retirement from Tests or any other format) I need to see. I take it as the time comes," Dhoni told reporters here.

Dhoni has played in 66 Tests and won 17 of the 36 ties he's led in. Dhoni has always been vocal about too much cricket being played and even taken a break from matches himself. In fact, he's even said previously that he will decide by 2013 whether or not to play in 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

"What I really meant was by 2013 I would have to see where I stand when it comes to my body, whether I will be able to survive for the 2015 World Cup. of course form is a factor. Also, what I need to see is if all of a sudden I play till 2014 and then I see I can't survive till the world cup, and all of a sudden you have a new wicketkeeper coming, who has not played more than 30 internationals. So. by end of 2013 I need to decide if I am fit enough to proceed in one of the formats.

It's not personal interest... what I want is that an individual taking my place should have played at least close to 60 to 100 ODIs before going into a World Cup. It's what my personal thinking is. We'll see... there's a lot of time before that."
