Nearly seven months after the scheduled date, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will finally conduct elections on November 10.

However, the elections will be held as per the MCA's present constitution and not what the Lodha Committee has ordered.

"The MCA managing committee decided to conduct elections on November 10 subject to the Supreme Court's order on the Lodha Committee reforms," MCA Joint Secretary Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar told mid-day after yesterday's meeting.

MCA's last election was held in 2015 when NCP chief Sharad Pawar was re-elected as president. Contesting from Bal Mahaddalkar group, the former BCCI and ICC president defeated Cricket First panel's candidate Dr Vijay Patil by 34 votes.

MCA is also planning to host its inaugural Mumbai Premier League (MPL) in January next year just few months before the start of the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). The final decision on MPL is expected at MCA's next managing committee meeting on September 14. There is also a possibility of the announcement of attaching the sponsor's name to the Wankhede Stadium.
