Bandra girl Jemimah Rodrigues' father, Ivan, said he couldn't have asked for anything more in life after his teenage daughter yesterday became the youngest player to be selected into the Indian women's cricket team led by Mithali Raj for the three-match ODI tour to South Africa beginning on February 5.
Ivan, an aspiring cricketer, whose dreams were cut short by his father's expectations of a career in medicine or engineering, said his daughter was living his dream. "I was crazy about cricket but my father wanted me to be either an engineer or a doctor. So, I played schools cricket and then studied engineering at the Bombay Flying Club. Since my father could not get a proper education himself, he wanted his children to be well qualified. Today, I'm proud that Jemimah is fulfilling my dream" Ivan told mid-day yesterday.
