The Women In Blue started their World Cup campaign with a huge 10 wicket win over Pakistan in the inaugural match of the ICC World Cup today.

After captain Jhulan Goswami asked Pakistan to bat first, India dished out a clinical bowling performance, bundling out their archrivals for just 57 runs in the 29 overs.

New ball bowler Rumeli Dhar dented the Pakistan top-order with early wickets, finishing with figures of 3/7 off eight overs, with 5 maidens. Amita Sharma, with 2/9 and Priyanka Roy with 2 /13 also displayed good form to restrict Pakistan to a miserly score.

For Pakistan, Sana Mir top scored with a pain-staking 17, while opener Nain Abidi with 11 runs was the only batswomen to notch up a double digit score.

In reply, openers Anagha Deshpande and Anjum Chopra knocked off the required runs in just 10 overs to complete a facile victore for the 2005 World Cup finalists.

While Deshpande helped herself to 26 runs off 37 balls, Chopra made 17 runs from 23 balls, as the Pakistan women were guilty of spraying 15 extras.

India have been clubbed with two-time champions England, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Group B, while Group A features Australia, West Indies, South Africa and New Zealand
