India lost quick wickets as they struggled at 67/4 on day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday.

India were 105/4 at lunch on day one of the first Test against Sri Lanka at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday.


Sri Lankan pacer UWMBCA Welegedara claimed three wickets for 28 runs, while KTGD Prasad took one.


Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India lost Gautam Gambhir for 1 in the third over.


Virender Sehwag (16) struck three boundaries before he was out leg-before to Welegedara. A day after completing 20 years in international cricket, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar could not spend time at the crease and was castled on the third ball by Welegedara for four.

India lost their fourth wicket in the form of middle-order batsman VVS Laxman who was bowled by Prasad even before he could open his account.

Only Rahul Dravid offered some resistance. He is batting onu00a045 with Yuvraj Singh (35).
