Pune: One thing that has stood out in Kedar Jadhav's 13-match international career so far is the way he backs himself. The Pune lad has shown tremendous confidence, first when the then skipper MS Dhoni asked him to bowl during the New Zealand ODI series in October 2016. And then again during his 120-run knock against England here on Sunday. So where does this confidence come from? "I have had this attitude since childhood that whatever I do, I do it from the bottom of my heart. On the field, the only intent is to make your team win," Jadhav said yesterday.

He gets his confidence also from certain experiences in life, like his batting during the India 'A' tour of Australia couple of years ago. Jadhav scored three back-to-back fifties to help India 'A' win the quadrangular ODI title there.

"One such incident was in Australia two years ago. I was touring for India 'A' and started feeling pain in my hand. I continued to play despite the pain. I returned after 20 days and got a scan done. It revealed that I had a fracture (in the wrist). I realised that if I could perform well in Australia despite carrying a fracture, I can bear any pain," he explained.
