Working for a digital firm in Muscat, Malvika Asher is calculative while handling client accounts. She is equally deft at gauging her strokes on canvas, especially when she is capturing a cricketer.

The 25-year-old arrived in India yesterday to present her latest set of portraits of Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma to the players after their net session at the Wankhede Stadium. She also presented the "only Sri Lankan cricketer" she loves, Lasith Malinga, with a vibrant artwork depicting him.

The young woman eagerly waited, along with brother Dhruv and cousins Harsh and Kunjal, for the Mumbai Indians (MI) to get done with their practice. "All of them were polite. Rohit, actually, waited till I set up my camera — he was patient. They said they would share my work on social media. We told Malinga we like his hair," Asher, who has painted almost all members of the Indian cricket team in last three years, said.

Her experiments with digital art began when she was a student of Symbiosis Institute in Pune. "Painting entered the picture in the second year of college. After I started working in Mumbai as art director, an interesting project came up and required that I create a superhero series. So, I made one using polygons and squares on Illustrator. I realised then how much I enjoy the medium," she said.
