Trent Boult may be a successful bowler the world over, but his record in India has been pretty modest going by his standards. Boult has claimed 15 wickets in five Tests in India and six wickets in four ODIs so far. His IPL record too is quite ordinary with 15 wickets in 14 matches in the last three seasons.

The upcoming India series is perhaps the final frontier for the pace ace to stamp his class as he looks to improve his performance in the sub-continent. For starters, Boult, 28, began well with five for 38 in his nine overs to restrict Board President's XI to 295 for nine in 50 overs in their first warm-up match yesterday.

The left-arm pacer has devised a simple game plan to tackle the Indian batsmen in the three ODI and T20 series — to be accurate. "The game plan is simple. I will look to swing the ball at the start of the innings and then look to be as aggressive as I can in the later spells. ODI cricket is very challenging. The surfaces offered here are very flat and there's not much from a bowler's perspective. "Accuracy is where I can offer the most. I can hit yorkers, put dots in between and build up pressure like that," Boult told reporters yesterday.

However, Boult is well aware that it's easier said and done. "You need to be accurate everywhere, but the room for error is very small here. The batsmen are very talented. They like to hit boundaries and they're able to hit boundaries off your best balls."
