"The viewership for India's first two games of the World Cup 2015 bears testimony to the cricket frenzy sweeping the nation," Star India Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sanjay Gupta said.
The flagship One-Day International (ODI) tournament has remained true to its billing, drawing 473 million viewers who tuned in within the first two weeks of the tourney.
The numbers for the India-South Africa game built on the record viewership for the defending champions' opener against arch-rivals Pakistan. The blockbuster clash attracted 288 million viewers, making it the most watched television event in India since the 2011 World Cup final.
