Sarfaraz Khan notched his second double century, also his third consecutive hundred, in the MSSA Giles Shield inter-school cricket final yesterday to give Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) an upper hand.

The reason behind the 11-year-old's stupendous success is his father Naushad Khan, who is also a coach, and his novel ideas.

Naushad, aware of the rising importance of technological aid in the game, has been rigorously capturing his son's practice sessions on his handycam for the last two years.

"It is helping me a lot. I have improved in my shot selection and timing. The video helps me learn faster and better," Sarfaraz told MiD DAY after his marathon innings of 211 (30x4) to take Rizvi to a comfortable position on Day Two of the four-day match against Parle Tilak English medium (Vile Parle) at the Bombay Gymkhana.

Rizvi were 388 for six at stumps with Akash Luthra batting on 65.

"Earlier, my father used to point out my mistakes in the nets, but now the visuals have made things much easier for me to learn," added Sarfaraz, the youngest player to debut in Dr HD Kanga League.

"This is my best knock because it came in a final."

Naushad pointed out that Sarfaraz has gotten rid of nervousness in the nineties.

"He has become a lot more confident during that period. He patiently waits for a loose ball and carefully selects his shots," said Naushad.

"I shoot his video and later on in the night I point out his mistakes and guide him in his shot selection and technique."
