Baba Indrajith has finally come out of the shadow of his twin brother, the better-known Baba Aparajith, who has played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Indrajith scored a brilliant century for India Red in the Duleep Trophy match against India Blue at Green Park, here yesterday.

Indrajith showed a lot of character after his team was struggling at 195 for nine. With the last man, Mumbai's Vijay Gohil as his partner, Indrajith played a gem of an innings which may well prove to be a turning point in his short career. He dazzled under lights and took the fight to the Blue bowlers by single-handedly ensuring a decent total for his team.

Both Aparajith and Indrajith played for junior India teams, but it was Aparajith who played for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy first. While Aparajith was making his mark for Tamil Nadu, Indrajith played at the junior level and made his first-class debut in 2013.

Indrajith's stature is bound to grow after adding one more century, his fifth, to the kitty in his first Duleep Trophy match. He is still not done yet as he is batting on 120 and his last wicket partnership with Gohil is worth 96 runs.

It was really impressive the way he batted yesterday. After the Blue pacers, Ankit Rajpoot and Jaydev Undadkat had the Red innings in tatters, Indrajith showed a lot of maturity and acumen as he not only framed the strike but also played some glorious stroke, to play an innings which he will cherish for a long time.
