The Indian opening batsman made a return during the Test series against New Zealand after Shikhar Dhawan suffered an injury. But it was his sensational Ranji form that caught  the selection panel's eye. He scored 147 in his last Ranji match. In his first Test after a long gap, Gambhir went on to score a vital century

Yuvraj Singh

India's flamboyant all-rounder faced his biggest setback after being diagnosed with cancer in 2011. He made his comeback to the team in 2012 during the WT20 and was the highest wicket taker in the tournamnent. In 2013, his T20I performance showed great improvement and by 2014 he went on to surpass Gambhir as India's leading T20I run scorer.

The former Indian batsman's form began to decline during 2004-05. But in the later part of the year he scored a fine hundred to help India defeat Sri Lanka. He followed it up with a fifty to help the team to a historic win against South Africa.

After a historic 380 runs in the 2003 Test against Zimbabwe, Hayden faced a huge slump in 2004 and did not score a century in 16 Tests. He then made a strong return with a century in 2005 Ashes and signalled a great performance in 2005-06. He also reached the 5000 run mark during the test series against England scoring two fifties.
