Professional coaching doesn't come cheap. Ask Raj Chodankar, who pays Rs four lakh a month for footballer son Raunaq (18) to be trained by former Cambridge United player John Taylor.

While training with Taylor, Raunaq was given an opportunity to play for Bishop Statford in an away match against Southend United in a Division One league in the United Kingdom.

The Indian lad's skills impressed the Southend youth coach Ricky Duncan, who offered Raunaq an opportunity to join his youth team on a development contract. Raunaq has been training with Southend United, a Division I team in the United Kingdom for the last seven months.

If Raunaq makes it in the Southend United team, he stands to earn 4000 pounds a week. The boy from Andheri, who plays as a striker and can also excel as a right-left winger, will be attending a two-week exchange-training programme at St Pauli a Bundesliga Division-II team in Germany. Raunaq left India after his HSC examinations to do his business management in Brunel University, West London.
