Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) accepted the resignation of CIC chief Nari Contractor, who did not wish to continue due to his wife's ill health. MCA president Ravi Savant chaired the meeting at the plush Churchgate office yesterday.
Sandeep Patil, who was recently nominated as chairman of the senior selection panel by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), was appointed new chairman of selectors for senior Mumbai teams.

Abey to continue
Abey Kuruvilla, who was named as Mumbai’s chief selector, will continue as one of the selectors in the five-member panel. This also puts an end to speculation over the former India pacer’s uncertainty in continuing as a Mumbai selector.
Meanwhile, MCA’s managing committee member Chandrakant Pandit, who was chosen as chairman of junior India selection committee by the BCCI, replaced Ravi Thakkar as chairman of Mumbai’s junior selection panel. Incidentally, Pandit was asked to resign by the MCA as its CIC chief for accepting a coaching role with the Rajasthan Cricket Association a few months ago. The new CIC chairman will be decided in the next managing committee meeting.u00a0
