Beating England will be tough: Ganguly

Former captain Sourav Ganguly feels that a depleted Indian cricket team will win the series in the West Indies, but beating England in the following series will be tough.

"India will win the series in the West Indies but it will be tough to beat England in England as they have enjoyed a lot of success at home in the recent past," Ganguly, who turned out for Pune Warriors in the IPL, said on the sidelines of a promotional event.

India start their West Indies series today with a Twenty20 International and it will be followed by five ODIs and three Test matches. India will fly from the Caribbean islands to England for a 51-day tour comprising four Test matches, five ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals, apart from a number of practice matches against county sides.

Ganguly, who led the national team to the historic Natwest Trophy ODI series win in 2002, hopes the Indian cricketers can keep themselves fit for the England series after the tour of the West Indies. "It will be challenging to keep themselves fit and fresh for the England series right after the tour to the West Indies," he said.u00a0
