2. Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid
Although these were the only two points dropped by Barca in a remarkable first-half of the campaign, it was a draw that maintained their eight-point lead over Madrid.
3. Deportivo 4-5 Barcelona
The following week, Barca travelled to Deportivo and despite taking an early 3-0 lead were given a torrid time in Galicia. u00a0The visitors only just managed to stave off a second-half onslaught from Deportivo after Mascherano was sent-off.
4. Barcelona 4-1 Atletico Madrid
For the majority of the season, Real weren’t even Barca’s closest challengers. An excellent start to the campaign meant Atletico were in second place when they travelled to the Camp Nou and they briefly looked as if they might spark life into the title race when Radamel Falcao put them in front. However, a screamer from Adriano and two more from Messi ensured a victory.
5. Barcelona 2-1 Sevilla
Sandwiched between defeats to AC Milan in the Champions League and Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey was another league match where Barca were forced to come from behind. Goals from David Villa and Messi u00a0ground out a win after Alberto Botia headed the visitors in front.
