Earlier, Karnataka, resuming at their overnight score of 163 for six in reply to the visitors' first innings tally of 158, closed at 287 thanks mainly to their lower-order batsmen, led by Shishir Bhavane (88, 175b, 13x4, 2x6), besides useful contributions from Jagadeesha Suchit (41) and Udit Patel (40).
Off-spinner Shuvgata Hom and left-arm spinner Saqlain Sajib came away with four wickets apiece for Bangladesh A.
In their second innings, the visitors fared better than their efforts in the first essay and managed a lead of 59 runs over the hosts going into the final day's play on Thursday.
