Ajay Shirke was re-elected as unopposed secretary at the 87th Annual General Meeting of the BCCI which was held today.

Earlier, a senior BCCI functionary had confirmed that Ajay Shirke was the only nomination for the post of secretary.

Ajay Shirke was appointed as the secretary in July after Anurag Thakur was elevated to the post of President after Shashank Manohar decided to quit BCCI to become ICC chairman.

Ajay Shirke is the supremo of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) and is also known to be a close friend to former BCCI and ICC president Sharad Pawar.
