Controversy seems to follow Vinod Kambli like an faithful dog. It catches up with the former Mumbai cricketer when he is not looking and sometimes even when he hasn't called it.
On Wednesday, Kambli's name was dragged into a fresh controversy through no fault of his after a BJP MP from Delhi, Udit Raj, claimed that the former cricketer's Dalit background was responsible for his exclusion from cricket. Mind you, he didn't just mean the Indian or Mumbai cricket teams, but from any role in cricket itself.
Udit Raj tweeted, "Vinod Kambli you should not be shy of accepting that you are a Dalit and that was the reason of your exclusion from cricket."
@vinodkambli349 you should not be shy of accepting that u r a Dalit and that was the reason of ur exclusion from cricket @BCCI @AIParisangh
— Dr. Udit Raj, MP (@Dr_Uditraj) December 27, 2016
Kambli may not be playing cricket, but the 44-year-old former cricketer hit the BJP leader out of the park immediately. He took to Twitter to reply to the politician and strongly said that he didn't support such statements. He further issued a clarification that he had never made any statement supporting reservation in cricket or suggesting that there was discrimination in the selection process in Indian cricket.
"Mr Raj, I don't support any of your statements. Hence, i request you to refrain from using my name!!!" https://t.co/diQRrR0bFU

Raj alleging that there is discrimination based on caste in Indian cricket and his suggestion of there should be reservations in the selection process got panned on Twitter as well with Twitterati terming the statement divisive. Twitterverse expressed the belief that reservations should be there only for tickets and hotels.
Kambli and Twitter taking on the politician and shutting him down is worthy of a slow clap.
HERE'S WHAT TWITTERATI HAD TO SAY:
