Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed dismay over the ‘Gaddar’ word used against him by Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders. While speaking to ANI, he said that out of greed to become the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey betrayed the people, BJP, and Balasaheb Thackrey’s ideology. "The words used for me are applied to them. In 2019, they abandoned the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray...They sold the ideology of their father. They committed a sin and the public will never forgive them...In 2019, they betrayed their friend and the people of Maharashtra. They betrayed the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray. When we contested elections together, Shiv Sena and the BJP had the same ideology. People believed that there would be an alliance government and that is why they voted. Amid the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, former Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam along with his wife and daughter joined Shiv Sena on May 03. Shiv Sena President and Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde welcomed the leader at the party office in Thane. Sanjay Nirupam was expelled from Congress on April 03 for indiscipline and anti-party statements. After the expulsion, Nirupam claimed that the disciplinary action against him came following his resignation from the party’s primary membership. The former MP had left the undivided Shiv Sena nearly two decades ago in order to join Congress.

In reaction to Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar giving the verdict that the Eknath Shinde faction was the real Shiv Sena following the June 2022 split in the party, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on January 10 that the decision given on the Shiv Sena vs Shiv Sena issue is the victory of democracy. He also said that the result is given on merit. While speaking to the reporters, Eknath Shinde said, "It is 'Satyamev Jayate'. The truth has won... This result has been given on merit. Majority is very important in democracy and hence the decision given by the Speaker today is the victory of democracy."
