As many as six newborns have lost their lives after a massive fire broke out at a New Born Baby Care Hospital in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar in the late hours of May 25. According to the Delhi Fire Department, a total of 12 children were rescued, out of which six have died, one is on the ventilator and five are admitted to the hospital. The rescued newborns have been shifted to East Delhi Advance NICU hospital. “Last night at 11:32 pm we got a call that a baby care centre was on fire. We initially sent 7 fire tenders. We rescued 12 children. Later we found out that 6 children had died. It has been reported that there was a blast in the oxygen cylinder due to which the fire increased and spread to the adjacent house as well... There were around 6 blasts there due to which our firefighters were also in danger. We formed 2 teams, one of which rescued the children and the other team did firefighting,” said Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg. Watch video for more.
