India-China Relations: India and China reach agreement on patrolling along LAC

In a major thaw in the India-China relations, the two countries have reached an agreement on the patrolling arrangements along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The agreement was reached ahead of the BRICS Summit which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. On agreement on patrolling at LAC, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, "...As a result of the discussions that have taken place over the last several weeks an agreement has been arrived at on patrolling arrangements along the line of actual control in the India-China border area and this is leading to dis-engagement and eventually a resolution of the issues that had arisen in these areas in 2020."

Taking an action against animal cruelty, the Kashigaon Police Station registered a first information report (FIR) against three individuals for organising and participating in an illegal horse-cart race that took place on 1 October in the station’s jurisdiction. The incident was brought into limelight after a  whistleblower alerted People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India. After submitting a complaint to Shri Madhukar Pandey, IPS, commissioner of police, Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar, PETA India collaborated closely with Shri Avinash Ambure, deputy commissioner of police (crime), and the Kashigaon Police Station.

Morbi tractor accident: Tractor overturns in Dhavana village, Rescue op underway

On August 25, 17 people were stranded near Morbi's Dhavana village after a tractor's attached trolley overturned while crossing a flooded causeway. Heavy rainfall caused the water flow to become dangerously strong, leading to the accident. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was quickly mobilized following the incident. Morbi Collector KB Jhaveri reported that the SDRF has successfully rescued 10 of the stranded individuals so far, with ongoing efforts to save the remaining seven. Jhaveri highlighted the severity of the situation, emphasizing that the intense rainfall and high water levels made the causeway extremely hazardous. The SDRF is working tirelessly to ensure all individuals are safely brought to safety. The rescue operation carried in Morbi tractor accident remains a high priority as teams continue to navigate the challenging conditions to assist those still trapped.
