The full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day Parade was held at Kartavya Path in Delhi, in which personnel from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Paramilitary forces participated on Monday. Twenty-three tableaux from 17 states and various departments of the government took part in the rehearsal. The Delhi Republic Day parade is the largest and one of the most important parades marking the republic day celebrations in India. The lowering of the flags ceremony at the Attari–Wagah border is a daily military practice. The security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed this ceremony since 1959. The drill is characterized by elaborate and rapid dance-like manoeuvres and raising legs as high as possible. It is both a symbol of the two countries’ rivalry and a display of brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations. One can sense patriotism running high at both sides of the border. People chant 'Jai Hind', Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram. Similar parades are organised at the Mahavir/Sadqi border near Fazilka, and the Hussainiwala/Ganda Singh Wala border near Firozpur.

Ahead of Republic Day, a complete dress rehearsal of the Military Tattoo which will be held on January 23 and 24 at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi, was performed. A Military Tattoo and Tribal Dance Festival ‘Aadi Shaurya - Parv Parakram Ka’ will be organised as part of the Republic Day Celebrations 2023. This will mark the 126th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
