15 December,2024 05:13 PM ISTOn Constitution Day, Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government over the Sambhal stone-pelting incident, where lives were lost. He questioned how the Constitution could be celebrated when people were suffering. He pointed out that false cases were being filed against local politicians and their families. Akhilesh questioned why a survey, which had already been conducted, was repeated and suggested it could have been done after discussions. He asked if any action had been taken against those who provoked people during the survey, especially if BJP workers were involved. Akhilesh also mentioned that opposition leaders and MPs were being prevented from visiting Sambhal to assess the situation.

Let’s remember the Emergency of 1975, when the Constitution and democracy were both undermined. The same people who were responsible for this are now claiming to be the greatest defenders of the Constitution. Their actions speak differently from their words." Paswan emphasized that the history of the Emergency should not be forgotten in the current political context.
