 As former PM Manmohan Singh’s final journey takes place today, Congress and BJP are at loggerheads over the handling of former Prime Minister Singh's last rites and memorial. Congress claims it reflects a worldwide demand to construct his memorial at his cremation place. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge had on Friday spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about exploring the possibility of building a memorial to Manmohan Singh at the same site where the last rites would be held. To this, Union Home minister Amit Shah in a press release had said that a place for Dr Singh's memorial will be allocated, while adding that in the mean time, the cremation and other formalities can go ahead.
