Despite a ₹60 lakh road construction tender issued in April 2023 and a ₹7 crore work order granted in January 2024, no progress has been made. The village, cut off from main roads, lacked any transport facilities. Villagers were forced to carry the woman in a makeshift cloth cradle for 10 kilometers to the nearest hospital, where she tragically passed away. Her body was then brought back the same way. This tragedy underscores the critical need for infrastructure development and accountability.

Two penguin chicks were born in the Mumbai-based Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan, popularly known as the Byculla Zoo, since May this year. The chick's sex determination is yet to be done, a release from the zoo authorities said. Eight penguins - three males and five females - were brought to the Byculla zoo from Coex Aquarium at Seoul in South Korea in 2016, and one of the birds later died.

On 21st March, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar took a joy ride on the electric Victorian-style carriage at Byculla Zoo. Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had launched the electric Victoria carriages at Varsha, his official residence on 14th March.
