15 January,2026 12:44 PM IST | MumbaiBMC Elections 2026 LIVE Updates: MNS chief Raj Thackeray has raised concerns over the new pen method being used in the BMC Elections 2026, alleging that it could enable voter fraud. He claimed that the ink used previously is being replaced by a pen whose marks can disappear, particularly if hand sanitiser is applied. Thackeray said this could allow voters to cast multiple votes, citing an instance where a person was allegedly caught voting twice. He appealed to the public, Shiv Sena workers, and Matoshree Sena workers to remain vigilant during the polls. Polling stations are open till 5:30 pm for all 227 wards in Mumbai. BMC has urged Mumbaikars not to carry mobile phones to polling stations. The city has 1,03,44,315 eligible voters — 55,16,707 men, 48,26,509 and 1,077 other gender — across all wards.
