In an exclusive interview with Mid-day.com, ace choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant spoke about the criticism the song Besharam Rang, the hit song from Pathaan featuring Deepika Padukone, received. Vaibhavi spoke about changing times in Bollywood and how each song or genre caters to a certain audience. Each song's requirements change based on a character created by the writer or the director. After a long wait, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham-starrer Pathaan trailer is finally here. Siddharth Anand-helmed film is a treat for every SRK fan who has been waiting for him to charm us on the silver since 2018. Pathaan is scheduled to release in the theaters on January 25. The trailer begins with a voiceover by Dimple Kapadia explaining a private terror group’s mission against India, spearheaded by John Abraham. To fight him, there is Pathaan, who has to end his ‘vanvaas’.Shah Rukh enters as Pathaan, and we can see lots of action between SRK and John. Deepika is also seen supporting Pathan as a soilder with powerful action scenes. Apart from SRK, Deepika and John we can also see Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. There are speculations that Pathaan also features a cameo by Salman Khan.Pathaan has been creating a lot of noise for good and bad reasons. The film’s song “Besharam Rang” was criticised for its unappealing choreography by the audience and later for the colour of Deepika’s costumes.It reached a level where protests were held in some parts of the country against the film’s release. The Censor Board has guided the movie makers to implement changes in the film including the songs and submit the revised version before theatrical release

There was an uproar in Ahmedabad on Wednesday during the promotion of Shah Rukh Khan's film Pathaan. Members of the Bajrang Dal barged into a mall and vandalized the theater. The workers tore the posters of the film Pathaan and threatened not to release the film. The controversy surrounds the movie's newly released song ‘Besharam Rang’. The song features Shah Rukh and Deepika romancing in Spain. Right-wing groups and some BJP leaders have demanded a ban on the song and the film as they feel offended by the saffron colored outfits worn by Deepika in the song. Following the outrage, the censor board has directed the filmmakers to implement a few “changes” in the film including the songs. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on January 25.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathaan’ has become the latest victim of Bollywood’s boycott culture. The anger started over the saffron color of Deepika’s outfit in the song ‘Besharam Rang’. State Minister Narottam Mishra said the song is highly objectionable and shot with a dirty mindset. Ever since Mishra raised his voice, various political leaders have been raising voices against the song for hurting religious sentiments. Meanwhile, bollywood backed Pathaan indirectly by talking about Social media, freedom of speech at the Kolkata Film Festival and on twitter handles. Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav also called this as BJP’s strategy to distract people from burning issues like rising unemployment, inflation, etc. Recently, Congress leader and Chattisgarh Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, came in support of the song Besharam Rang and called the trolls as ‘Bajrangi Goons’

Sadhvi Pragya Warned the makers of Pathaan. She said, ''If any one insults saffron, we will give them a befitting reply.' Soon after the release of the first song of the film 'Besharam Rang', the hashtag Boycott Pathan started trending on Twitter. Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan's sizzling chemistry in the song has caught everyone's attention and is being appreciated. But amid this, a boycott trend has started on social media. Following the controversy, Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra slammed the makers for the use of saffron costumes in the film. He also said that the film contains some objectionable scenes, and threatened to ban Pathaan in Madhya Pradesh if those shots are not replaced.
