Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has filed his nomination to contest from the Baramati assembly seat. This election will see him facing off against his nephew, Yugendra Pawar, who is the grandson of Sharad Pawar. Yugendra is running as a candidate for the NCP-SP alliance. This matchup marks another Pawar versus Pawar contest, following a recent election where Supriya Sule, Sharad Pawar's daughter, defeated Sunetra Pawar, Ajit Pawar's wife. Ajit Pawar split from the NCP in June 2023. When asked about competing against his uncle, Yugendra expressed his sadness and said it was quite unfortunate to be in this situation, as Ajit Pawar has previously won this seat seven times.
