The team employed various methods to reduce her weight, including dehydration techniques, exercise, and cutting her hair. Despite these efforts, they were unable to meet the weight requirement in time. Scheduled to compete against Sarah Ann Hildebrandt for the Gold Medal, Vinesh was found to be 100 grams overweight for her weight category. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised her as a “Champion among Champions,” calling her India's pride and an inspiration to every Indian.
