The city is set to get its second airport, a game-changing development that will offer travelers a fresh alternative to the busy Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The much-anticipated Navi Mumbai International Airport is gearing up for its grand inauguration in April 2025, with flight operations scheduled to begin on May 15. The countdown is on! Recently, a joint team consisting of officials from the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Adani Airport Holdings (AAHL), and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) conducted a comprehensive inspection of the site. After a full day of checks on February 24, they returned on February 25 for further evaluation. The senior DGCA official confirmed that the inspection process is now complete, paving the way for the airport operator to apply for the necessary license to kick off flight operations by mid-May.

Navi Mumbai Airport Runway inaugurated by IAF, trial flight lands successfully
History was created at Navi Mumbai today as IAF inaugurated Navi Mumbai Airport’s runway. The first trial flight Aircraft C-295 landed at the airport around 1 pm. Upon arrival at the airport, the aircraft was welcomed with a water cannon salute. IAF’s Sukhoi SU-30 performed a low fly-past over the runway. The inaugural was done in the presence of CM Eknath Shinde.
