RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on May 07 backtracked from his Muslim reservation remark and said that the reservation should be on a social basis, not on religious grounds. "I implemented the 'Mandal Commission'. Reservation is social-based and not religion-based. Atal Bihari Vajpayee constituted the Constitution Review Commission... We are getting reports in our favor after the third phase. They are saying 400-plus to induce psychological pressure, they won't even cross 200,” he added. Earlier, RJD Chief said, “The votes are on our side... They are saying that there will be 'Jungle Raj' because they are scared, they are trying to instigate... They want to finish the Constitution and democracy... 'Are toh reservation toh milna chahiye Musalmano ko, pura'.”

Former Bihar Deputy CM and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav arrived at the Bihar Assembly in Patna on February 12. Amid huddles and shifting of MLAs to secure locations in the state or beyond ahead of the crucial trust vote, both the JDU-NDA alliance and the RJD party claimed to have the majority. Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad on February 12 said that the NDA alliance will get the majority and the government will complete its tenure. RJD supporters gathered outside former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav’s residence and raised anti-Nitish slogans to extend their support to Tejashwi Yadav. Politics seems to be heating up in Bihar as 9-time CM Nitish Kumar led-Govt is ready to face floor test on Feb 12. RJD MLAs have been camping at former Bihar Dy CM Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in Patna since Feb 10. However, Congress MLAs have not been a part of the meeting as they left for Bihar from Hyderabad earlier in the day. Congress CLP leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan said that “Khela Hoga” ahead of the trust vote. Meanwhile, a day before the Bihar floor test, JD(U) leaders flocked to Finance Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary’s residence. Bihar CM and JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar also attended the meeting ahead of the crucial floor test. BJP MLAs also left from Mahabodhi resort in Gaya to get ready for the trust vote and the party exuded confidence.
