On 16th September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investment Meet & Expo (RE-INVEST 2024) and flagged off the 20.8 km corridor of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase II. This phase extends the North-South Metro Corridor from Phase I, featuring a mainline from APMC to Motera, extending to Mahatma Mandir, and a branch line from GNLU to GIFT City. The project includes an 8 km corridor with 8 stations, highlighted by a 15.4 km viaduct from Motera to Sector 1 with 6 stations. The initiative aims to enhance urban mobility and sustainable infrastructure, with a total investment of ₹3,284 crores. Following the flag-off, PM Modi traveled on the newly inaugurated train.

On August 17, the Sabarmati Express derailed between Kanpur and Bhimsen stations in Uttar Pradesh due to a boulder striking the engine, damaging its cattle guard. A massive train accident took place near Ajmer today. Passengers sustained minor injuries after Sabarmati Express collided with a goods train on March 18. The incident occurred at midnight near Madar station in Ajmer district. However, no casualties have been reported so far in the incident. Several passengers sustained minor injuries and least four coaches and the engine of Sabarmati Express train got derailed. The reason behind the train derailment is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the rescue teams and railway officials reached the incident spot. Due to the incident, several trains have been diverted to different routes. Watch video for more information.

Parts of Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on July 26, bringing respite from hot and humid conditions. Due to the downpour, parts of Delhi-NCR experienced waterlogging. Meanwhile, several areas of Noida witnessed severe waterlogging. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded in Noida’s Echotech area due to a rise in the water level of the Hindon River on July 25. The vehicles were seen almost submerged in the water making it ‘Water Parking’. Several houses were also submerged in the low-lying areas on July 23. Light to moderate rains were witnessed in parts of the NCR, including Noida, in the early hours of July 25. Amidst heavy rainfall in parts of the country, the IMD has issued alerts for Maharashtra, Haryana, Chandigarh, UP, Rajasthan, HP, and Uttarakhand.
