An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla in J&K on Sept 14. The vulnerable areas have been cordoned off and a massive manhunt has been initiated across the district. Earlier on Sept 13, two army soldiers were killed in a gunfight with terrorists in the Kishtwar district. Notably, these scary developments are taking place ahead of J&K Assembly Polls 2024. Polling in J&K would be held in 3 phases starting from Sept 18, 25 & Oct 1; Counting of votes will take place on Oct 8, 2024.
