Indian Worker’s Death: MEA responds to Indian worker’s shocking death in Italy

Indian farm worker, Satnam Singh’s shocking death in Italy’s Latina last week sent shockwaves in India. The accident resulted in the severing of his arm, which happened while he was working at the farm. As per Flai CGIL trade union, instead of receiving help from an employer, "Singh was dumped like a bag of rubbish near his home", Meanwhile, Indian authorities raised concern over the death of the farmer and called for prompt action against responsible. On June 28 briefing, Ministry of External Affairs raised concern over lack of empathy which led to farmer’s death. MEA spox Randhir Jaiswal condemns the death of Satnam Singh and calls for more human treatment of citizens. Earlier, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also commemorated the death of the Indian farm worker.

Taking to Instagram, Meloni shared a video in which she can be heard saying “Hello from the Melodi team”. The video in no time went viral on social media as netizens reacted to the chemistry between the two leaders. Reacting to the Melodi Viral Video, while one user retweeted the much-awaited video with emoji, another said “It happens finally” with hashtag #Melodi. Prior to this, a selfie picture of PM Meloni and PM Modi went viral on internet within minutes of its emerging out. Notably, ahead of PM Modi’s departure for Italy, netizens had gone crazy eagerly waiting for ‘Melodi moments’ as they met after over 290 days. Earlier, Meloni after meeting PM Modi at COP28 in UAE, had shared her selfie with PM Modi with #Melodi which broke internet. From US President Biden to UK PM Rishi Sunak, G7 leaders attended the global conference. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also represented India at the global high table as an outreach nation.
