After Farooq Abdullah’s ‘Let J&K go to hell’ remark sparked furore, the National Conference chief issued a clarification. While talking to ANI, Farooq said, “We will not stand with any another country, but at least respect us, try to win our hearts. This is why I used these words. I am clarifying”. A day after the Supreme Court upheld the abrogation of Article 370, National Conference Chief and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on December 12 said on the Article 370 Verdict, “Let Jammu and Kashmir go to hell. Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 in both houses. Notably, Supreme Court asked the Election Commission to hold J&K Assembly elections by Sept 2024. On August 5, 2019, the Central Government announced the revocation of the special status of J&K granted under Article 370.
