After Farooq Abdullah’s ‘Let J&K go to hell’ remark sparked furore, the National Conference chief issued a clarification. While talking to ANI, Farooq said, “We will not stand with any another country, but at least respect us, try to win our hearts. This is why I used these words. I am clarifying”. They (Government) made Jammu and Kashmir a hell.” In a landmark move, the Supreme Court Constitution Bench unanimously upheld the abrogation of Article 370 of J&K on Dec 11. A 5-Judge bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud pronounced the verdict and called Article 370 “Temporary Provision”. The Apex Court has directed ECI to conduct elections to the Legislative Assembly of J&K by Sept 2024. PM Modi in a tweet, welcomed the verdict terming it historic, a beacon of hope and a promise of a brighter future.
